Acozac
Acozac (Ixtapaluca) is an archaeological site located in the Municipality of Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, Mexico. The site is at kilometer 30 of federal road México – Puebla, towards Ixtapaluca.
Has been linked with Tlazallan – Tlallanoztoc, (Codex Xolotl) as the grandson of Xólotl Techotlallatzin cities site. Ceramic evidence indicates the site had occupation at the following periods: foundation probably started in Azteca I phase (900 to 1,200 CE), and continued with Aztec phase II (1200 to 1430) (Techotlallatzin reign). Azteca phase III (1430 to 1521) structures are currently visible.

Various activities from Friday night to Sunday at the end of January. Not to be missed : the famous ice bowling tournament that will conclude the festivities. See municipal information.
Snow
The term snow storm can describe a heavy snowfall, while a blizzard involves snow and wind, obscuring visibility. Snow shower is a term for an intermittent snowfall, while flurry is used for very light, brief snowfalls. Snow can fall more than a meter at a time during a single storm in flat areas, and meters at a time in rugged terrain, such as mountains. When snow falls in significant quantities, travel by foot, car, airplane and other means becomes severely restricted, but other methods of mobility become possible, such as the use of snowmobiles, snowshoes and skis.

Regarding neighbourhood activities, times have changed. For many reasons, it is more difficult to organize activities for lake residents only. For this year, we again encourage you to participate in the various local festivities of La Conception, such as the Fête des voisins, the softball tournament to benefit the parish, the Détour culturel, the Fête des neiges, or by volunteering for the Mont-Tremblant Ironman. Some of us already participate in these community activities and find that they are great opportunities to meet new people and for family fun.
Snow
Moisture exchange between the snowpack and the overlying air mass is accompanied by latent heat transfer that is influenced by vapor pressure gradient and air wind. Rain on snow can add significant amounts of thermal energy to the snowpack. A generally insignificant heat exchange takes place by conduction between the snowpack and the ground. The small temperature change from before to after a snowfall is a result of the heat transfer between the snowpack and the air. As snow degrades, its surface can develop characteristic ablation textures such as suncups or penitentes.

According to the Réseau de Surveillance Volontaire des Lacs (RSVL), of which we are a member, “the lake must be protected in order to preserve its state and its usages”. The Ministère du développement durable, de l’environnement, de la faune et des parcs (MDDEFP) recommends “the adoption of preventative measures to limit adding nutrients created by human activity”. We must therefore continue to control lake access. In accordance with a suggestion made at the 2011 and 2012 annual assemblies, the Board of the APEL is examining the possibility of entry fees.
Snow
The energy balance of the snowpack itself is dictated by several heat exchange processes. The snowpack absorbs solar shortwave radiation that is partially blocked by cloud cover and reflected by snow surface. A long-wave heat exchange takes place between the snowpack and its surrounding environment that includes overlying air mass, tree cover and clouds. Heat exchange takes place by convection between the snowpack and the overlaying air mass, and it is governed by the temperature gradient and wind speed.

We can swim in our lake, boat on it and even drink its water. The recent appearance of aquatic plants in shallow waters, such as lily pads, potamots and other species is not worrisome, but does signal the fragility of the biological balance of the lake, reminding us to remain alert for its preservation. However, attempting to remove these plants does not improve the situation.
Snow
Snow cover can protect crops from extreme cold. If snowfall stays on the ground for a series of years uninterrupted, the snowpack develops into a mass of ice called glacier. Fresh snow absorbs sound, lowering ambient noise over a landscape because the trapped air between snowflakes attenuates vibration. These acoustic qualities quickly minimize and reverse, once a layer of freezing rain falls on top of snow cover. Walking across snowfall produces a squeaking sound at low temperatures.

Efforts made over the last few years (regulation of boat washing and replanting shores, controlling the access, controlling septic systems, testing and tracking water quality, yearly stocking of thousands of fish) have ensured a high level of quality and clarity of lake water. Over the last five years, average water transparency is stable, chlorophyll and phosphorus concentrations are declining and the concentration of dissolved organic carbon is acceptable.
Snow
The existence of a snowpack keeps temperatures lower than they would be otherwise, as the whiteness of the snow reflects most sunlight, and any absorbed heat goes into melting the snow rather than increasing its temperature. The water equivalent of snowfall is measured to monitor how much liquid is available to flood rivers from meltwater that will occur during the following spring.

The APEL des Trois Montagnes, with the support of the Municipality of La Conception, has also contributed to the preservation of our lake. It is therefore important to support your association. The longterm preservation of the lake is everyone’s business. Your support and involvement are important, including your annual fee – thank you.
Snow
Once on the ground, snow can be categorized as powdery when light and fluffy, fresh when recent but heavier, granular when it begins the cycle of melting and refreezing, and eventually ice once it comes down, after multiple melting and refreezing cycles, into a dense mass called snow pack. When powdery, snow moves with the wind from the location where it originally landed, forming deposits called snowdrifts that may have a depth of several meters. After attaching itself to hillsides, blown snow can evolve into a snow slab an avalanche hazard on steep slopes.

Spring is here and we can finally ready ourselves for a beautiful summer on one of the most lovely lakes in the Laurentians: our Lac des Trois Montagnes. It has remained beautiful and clean thanks to the care and concern of a majority of residents, who take respect for our neighbours and the lake’s preservation seriously.
Sunset
Sunset creates unique atmospheric conditions such as the often intense orange and red colors of the Sun and the surrounding sky.

Water Quality
The long term trend regarding the lake water transparency measurements remained stable between 2004 and 2009. To top things off, in 2010, the quality of bathing water index was also excellent!
The mean of this summer measurements of our lake water transparency, taken between 10 am and 3 pm with the Secchi disk, was 7.8 meters. The MRC has also tested it, obtaining similar results. These results categorize our lake at an aging stage between ultra-oligotrophic and oligotrophic.
As for the bathing water quality, 53 water samples were taken in 2008 at various locations on the lake and the results are excellent by MDDEP established standards (less than 20 CFU per 100 ml): they were at 2 CFU or less per 100 ml in 35 cases, and were all above 20 CFU per 100 ml in the remaining samples. We have also obtained excellent results for levels of phosphorus in the water.
We hope to integrate shortly the water measurements historical data in our website, so everyone can clearly see the trends over the years.
Sunset
The time of sunset is defined in astronomy as the moment when the trailing edge of the Sun’s disk disappears below the horizon. The ray path of light from the setting Sun is highly distorted near the horizon because of atmospheric refraction, making the sunset appear to occur when the Sun’s disk is already about one diameter below the horizon. Sunset is distinct from dusk, which is the time at which the sky becomes completely dark, which occurs when the Sun is approximately eighteen degrees below the horizon. The period between sunset and dusk is called twilight.

Fauna and Flora
Since 1939, fishes are stocked in our lake. In October 2011, 1,000 lake trouts and 1000 splakes were put into the lake to improve its fisheries health. The splake is a cross between brook trout and lake trout.
Overall, 30% of APEL revenues are allocated to fish stocking.
We remind you that a Lake Trout under 45 cm must be returned to the water and we invite the fishermen of the lake to inform us about their summer catches.
Sunset
Sunset or sundown, is the daily disappearance of the Sun below the western horizon as a result of Earth’s rotation.
